The Wisdom of the Chinese I Ching in Numbers and Colours
Share
It's been a while since I published that octal numbers (base 8 instead of 10) could create a new sequence or order for the 64 hexagrams of the I Ching.
When I saw Hans Peter Meier's I Ching of Colours, I was tempted to create my version, since my number-based colour code combines the 8 colours of RGB & White as well as CMYK.
The main differences are:
- my colour code allows for the visualisation of transitions between 2, 3 and 4 colours
- my colour code applies symmetrical operations with visual effects in numerous ways that allow for a variety of visualisations
- just as the I Ching is built on the polarities of Yin and Yang and the transitions between Yin / Yang combinations, so is my code built on Black and White as opposite "polar pairs" with their odes 0, 0, 0 and 255,255,255.
